New Yorkers Living in poverty = 3 times the Population of Boston
According to the report to Mayor Michael Bloomberg:
“Over 1.5 million New Yorkers – almost three times the entire population of the city of Boston – live below the poverty line. This represents 19.1 percent of New York City residents.”
Our goal is to train and place New Yorkers with barriers to employment in sustainable careers in the digital printing and document management industries, enabling them to move out of poverty. There is a continuous need for trained workers in this area. Your print jobs can help provide revenues to fund our training, and are used by our trainers to teach production and quality control techniques. In short, your print jobs change lives.
Success Story – Calvan
Calvan: Completed his WE-NYC training in Digital Printing and Document Management and has begun his internship at a local community service organization where he is assisting them to scan and archive their records
When asked about the training program Calvan said, “This training has prepared me for more than just digital printing. It has prepared me for what every employee needs to acquire and to keep a job, including accountability, having a ready and willing attitude for work, and keeping a professional look.”
According to Calvan’s internship site supervisor, “Our organization is transitioning from paper to digital document storage; [Calvan] the intern is instrumental in helping us move this initiative forward.”
Calvan’s current duties include scanning and filing and he has requested to be given more responsibilities. “I can create PDF’s, make static forms, send email, and print, bind, scan, cut, and fold documents” says Calvan.

Success Story – Noel
Noel: A Workforce Enterprises graduate, has recently been hired into a full time Copier/Scanner position with an international firm, CMS Facilities Management. Noel was born and raised in New York City, and came to Workforce Enterprises through a referring agency, the Learning Disabilities Association of New York.
Noel was always one of the first students to arrive, and the last to leave. Even in the first few weeks of training, Noel showed promise not only in the new skills he was learning, but also demonstrated the ability and willingness to help his fellow students.
Always eager to work, Noel’s first post-graduation job was with us, Workforce Enterprises. Noel continued to help train the next class, and also worked on jobs our commercial print shop was producing. Noel was keeping his skills sharp and learning new things until the right opportunity came along…and it did.
We want to sincerely congratulate Noel on his success, and want to thank our customers whose print jobs really did change a life.
